Two rows of lovely pies sat forlorn for most of the day, hoping to see hoards of eager admirers – all in vain.

So come Monday, Lea plans to throw in the sponge and offer deep discounts on all the baked pies in the shop.

“A guy can only eat so many of his own pies in a day, even if they do taste just like grandmas!!,” he was overheard muttering to himself as he turned out the lights and locked the doors.

Sweetie Pies is part of the Settlement Shops located right next to Fish Creek’s popular Settlement Courtyard Inn – open seven days a week, 9 to 5.

They have boxes of assorted chocolates, truffles and a special Valentine’s chocolate heart, stuffed with turtles, as well as cherry bark, and more!

“Our recommendation for the most romantic pie would be Raspberry Cherry! What a combination,” says David Lea. “Also high on the list would be Peach Raspberry and Peach Cherry. But all our pies spell L-O-V-E when you come right down to it.”

Don’t miss their super Packer Pie in honor of everyone’s favorite pig skin rustlers! There is also be a new flavor that you must experience: Chocolate Chess Pie (thanks to the recommendation of the Pie Dude!) and they are selling these and their perennial favorites: Chocolate Chip Cookie and Chocolate Chip Walnut pies for the amazing price of $10!

Keep in mind that Monday, the fourteenth, will not only be Valentines Day, but Sweetie Pies Bargain Monday when they have special discounts to assure that no luscious pies go homeless when they close during the weekdays (Tuesday to Friday).

Sweetie Pies – also open on the weekend of February 19 and 20 for Presidents’ Day, but will be closing until April after that.

See you at Sweetie Pies!

T. Ashwell’s Restaurant in Ellison Bay announces a Prix Fixe menu throughout the summer on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday evenings, and will change weekly.

Chef Tom Smith

The concept of the prix fixe menu is common in Europe and beginning to gain popularity in the United States. A prix fixe is simply a collection of pre-determined items presented as a multi-course meal at a set price. Ashwell’s three-course meal will feature an appetizer, salad and entrée. It will feature a variety of flavors assembled expertly by Chef Tom.

The meal will be $39 per person and does not include beverages, tax, or gratuity. However, for an additional charge of $20 per person, the meal will be complemented with three half-glasses of wine selected by T. Ashwell’s bar manager Zack Lozoff.

“We experimented with a Prix Fixe meal this winter, and it was so popular that we decided to bring it back for the summer months,” says Chef Tom. “Fridays are typically fish fry nights around Door County, so I plan to feature fresh fish for the Friday evening Prix Fixe. Overall, I’m looking forward to experimenting with a variety of flavors for these meals.”

Interested patrons are encouraged to visit T.Ashwell’s website at www.tashwells.com or check out T. Ashwell’s on Facebook for the current week’s menu. Reservations for dining are encouraged and can be made by calling 920.854.4306 or by visiting the website. T. Ashwell’s opens for dinner at 5:30 pm Wednesday through Sunday (with the exception of being closed on Wednesday, June 23) and will be open every day except for Tuesdays beginning the week of Monday, June 28.

T.Ashwell’s is located at 11976 Mink River Road in Ellison Bay. The restaurant’s menu changes frequently and concentrates on American/Ethnic cuisine, with an emphasis on using local and organic ingredients. For more information, call 920.854.4306 or visit www.tashwells.com.
