Stroll through a farmer’s market in Sturgeon Bay and Sister Bay on Saturday, and in Baileys Harbor on Sunday, and bring the bounty home. Bring the family to Sister Bay to experience the excitement of the Sister Bay Marina Fest, going on all day Saturday, Aug. 30, 2014 and ending with a fireworks display!
Take in dinner and a show! AFT’s original musical “The Bachelors” opens at the Door Community Auditorium in Fish Creek this weekend. The English Inn and Gibraltar Grill are both close to the DCA and Arroyo Bay Grill is across the street – just let them know you have tickets when you are seated. “Butler,” a sharp-witted Civil War drama wraps up this weekend at Peninsula Players Theater – 8pm nightly through Saturday, and Sunday, August 31st at 4pm. Grab a bite at the Bayside Tavern to hold you through the performance, then stop at Not Licked Yet Frozen Custard for a post-show treat.

The Cookery Restaurant & Wine Bar in Fish Creek has extended their wine bar hours for the month of August to accommodate Door County’s delightfully long summer nights! The kitchen will be open until 11:00 p.m. nightly, serving the full bar menu & dessert menu. Not a late night person? EPHRAIM – FYR BAL WEEKEND!
This weekend is the 50th Annual Fyr Bal Festival in Ephraim with the main festivities on Saturday, June 21, 2014. Get acquainted with Ephraim on Friday, June 20, with a Free Historic Walking Tour from the Anderson Barn History Center at 10:30am, and enjoy Free Museum Day and Reception from 11am-4pm at Ephraim Village Museums.
On Saturday, June21, start the day off right with a Pancake Breakfast at the Village Hall, then check out the Artisan Market and the Yacht Club’s Fyr Ball Regatta, visit the Door County Land Trust’s Open House at their Ephraim Preserve at Anderson Pond, take a Free Trolley Ride, play a round of mini golf, and participate in an Ice Cream Eating or Pie Eating Contest! The Taste and Tunes of Door County, WI June 12-15, 2014: Steel Bridge Songfest, DC Beer Fest, and Sip & Savor w/ Paddlefest
Get a taste and a tune in Door County this weekend! June 12-15, 2014 is Steel Bridge Songfest in Sturgeon Bay. This Saturday, June 14th is Sip & Savor with Paddlefest in Sister Bay, as well as Door County Beer Fest and the Ride For Nature in Baileys Harbor, and July 15th is Father’s Day – so bring Dad for all the festivities and toast to his health! Sample local beers, wines, and hard ciders, and treat the taste buds to dishes from a variety of local food vendors while you treat the ear buds to lots of live music. Skip the paisley tie this year and give Dad a six pack or two of a new brew or a few bottles of his favorite wine, and don’t forget that most of the musicians performing throughout the county this weekend sell CDs of their original music – which make great Father’s Day gifts too!
STEEL BRIDGE SONGFEST, STURGEON BAY, WI
Steel Bridge Songfest in Sturgeon Bay runs Thursday, June 12 through Sunday, June 15, 2014. This is an astonishing festival in that all the musicians who perform volunteer their time, and those who participate in the “Construction Zone” (there are some 70 this year) spend the entire week prior to the festival spinning a whiskey bottle to form groups in which they co-write dozens upon dozens of original songs which they record at the Holiday Music Motel, then perform for audiences at a variety of indoor and outdoor venues.

The music starts at 7:30 p.m. in the wine bar. The wine bar’s small plate, appetizer and dessert menu will be available before and during the show. There is no cover charge.

David Hatch & Lynn Gudmundsen will be performing at 8 pm on Saturday, August 31st. David and Lynn play everything from Beatles to Beethoven, acoustic classic rock and bluegrass, with a tad country and folk.
On Sunday, September 1st at 8 pm, Seth Raddatz will perform acoustic folk-rock and country styles with haunting and heartfelt lyrics, ushering in the new folk generation.
The Nicks will be playing on Wednesday, September 4 at 6:30 pm. The Nicks are a guitar and mandolin duo performing an eclectic mix of music.

The Cookery is kicking off its’ music season with Lynn Gudmundsen and David Hatch on Saturday, May 4 at 5 p.m. David and Lynn will play a mix of acoustic classic rock and bluegrass, along with a tad of country and folk.
The music will be in The Cookery’s wine bar. The appetizer, small plate, and dessert menu as well as the beer and wine list will be available. The happy hour menu is also available 3 to 6 p.m., which includes specials on tap beer, glasses of wine and appetizers. There is no cover charge.

The third option is a whole wheat linguine tossed with house made kale pesto and roasted tomatoes, grilled wild salmon or chicken can be added to this entree.

The Door County Half Marathon is coming up fast on May 4th. The Cookery is putting on a Runner’s Feast on May 3rd for dinner. They will be offering three pasta features for runners to load up on carbs before the big race. The second option is a vegetarian version of the shrimp linguine with a variety of fresh vegetables. After the race is done, relax and sip a glass of wine in the Wine Bar with live music by David Hatch & Lynn Gudmundsen. Music starts at 5pm and will feature acoustic classic rock, bluegrass, a bit of country and a tad of folk.
The Cookery’s Lodging options include two rental units for the upcoming season. They have one two bedroom suite with a water view and a one bedroom cottage. Join some local talent for a entertaining night at Third Avenue Playhouse in Sturgeon Bay on Friday March 29 at 7:30pm. David Hatch, Lynn Gudmundsen, Patrick Palmer, and Lloyd Michalsen will be serenading the night away.
The First Set will be Sidekicks which is Hatch, Gudmundsen, and Palmer singing along to the guitar, fiddle, mandolin, ukulele, bass and conga. For the Second Set, Lloyd Michalsen will be joining to introduce One Voice. They will be performing songs from their first CD titled Happy Trails.
