Join The Cookery for Door County Half Marathon Weekend: Saturday, May 3. We’ll be welcoming over 2,000 runners and spectators to the peninsula for the Door County Half Marathon on Saturday, May 3, and we’re doing our part as a DCHM sponsor to make sure that our runners are well-fed AND entertained!
We will be offering three pasta features the evening before the race (Friday, May 2). The first is a whole wheat linguine with wild shrimp sautéed with garlic, pimenton (Spanish paprika) and red pepper flakes, finished with dry sherry and Parmesan (shown above). The second option is a vegetarian version of the shrimp linguine with a variety of fresh vegetables. The third option is still in the works, we are testing our recipes as we speak, so stay tuned!
We’re also excited to welcome Jessica Holland and Nick Hoover (Death Folk) to the wine bar on the eve of the half-marathon, where they’ll be playing light folk music beginning at 5:30 p.m. And, since we’re a DCHM sponsor, you can actually redeem your half-marathon drink ticket at The Cookery!
We’ve been busy refining recipes, sampling wines that will be a part of this season’s wine list, canning cherry pie filling and other products, and sprucing up our building to get ready for the season ahead. Our hours through Memorial Day weekend will be daily from 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., so we hope you come and visit us for the early part of the season!
