First Fridays in Sturgeon Bay is off to a great start! More than 20 businesses are participating each month. The next event is scheduled for Friday, October 5th. The highlighted nonprofits are HELP of Door County and Third Avenue Playhouse (TAP) is United Way of Door County.
Local businesses will have expanded hours with some of them open until 8:00pm. Refreshments at many of the participating businesses and live entertainment will help make the evening festive. And while you are out and about, don’t forget to enjoy the fare of our wonderful restaurants on 3rd Avenue and on the West Side.
The Untitled and Used Book Store will have a Poetry Reading/Open Mic starting at 6pm.
Open Mic Night is back at GLAS Coffee House starting at 7pm, hosted by Josh and Elliott.
Downtown Sturgeon Bay is the place to be on the first Friday of every month. Come support our local businesses, learn more about some of our nonprofits, and enjoy the ambiance!
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. HELP of Door County is sponsoring a Walk in Her Shoes at 6pm on October 5th on 3rd Avenue between Kentucky and Michigan. A Walk in Her Shoes celebrates the valuable contribution men are making to STOP Domestic Violence. We are celebrating peace and respect for all. Local male celebrities will “Take a Walk” in women’s shoes!
TAP will have live music in their lobby featuring local singer/songwriter Kory Murphy. Kory will play guitar and sing in the lobby starting about 6:45pm. Murphy infuses his gentle yet full and powerful vocal gift with lots of heartfelt, sincere emotion and then adds a rich and mellow acoustic guitar sound to produce a refreshing and spirited style of indie folk music that gets your attention immediately. That evening’s show is “Almost, Maine”. A romantic comedy under the northern lights, starring local professional actors Chad Luberger, Ryan Patrick Shaw, Amy Ensign, and Anne St. Henry. The show starts at 7:30 pm in the brand new 84-seat Studio Theater. Tickets are $20 General, $15 Senior/Military, and $10 Student. For this special evening, Third Avenue Playhouse will donate 50% of the ticket revenue to United Way of Door County.
