The 17th Annual Chefs for a Day event will be Saturday, October 20th at the Sturgeon Bay Yacht Club.
Doors will open at 6:00 pm and volunteer servers will be distributing hors d’oeuvres from 6:30 until 7:15 p.m. At 7:15 guests will be able to sample the entrees, served by each chef at numerous buffet stations.
New this year, guests will have the opportunity to watch cooking demonstrations and learn about cheese pairings. These opportunities will be happening between 6:15 and 7:00pm.
The theme for this year is “Buy Local, Cook Local, Eat Local”. Our chefs have been asked to have at least 50% of their ingredients either grown/produced locally or purchased locally.
We are asking our guests to donate nonperishable food items at the door to be distributed to local food pantries. Guests will have the opportunity to sample 45 gourmet dishes, including hors d’oeuvres, entrees, and desserts.
A few of this year’s chefs include The Community’s Garden, Inge Bacon, Jeannine Kelsey, and Dina Boettcher. A group of youth from the Boys & Girls Club, a librarian, and several school board members are a few more of the people from Door County who are preparing taste-tempting dishes for your enjoyment. These volunteer chefs are people that you know from our community. In addition to the gourmet appetizers and entrees, guests can satisfy their sweet tooth with a variety of desserts, which will be served at each dining table later in the evening.
Throughout the evening there will be a silent auction and raffles. Some items include artwork, jewelry, dining certificates, golf certificates, clothing, and much more. Thank you to the local businesses who donated these wonderful items.
This year’s event is also the end of the A –“DOOR”-able Mailbox raffle, sponsored by Coldwell Banker – The Real Estate Group. All raffle proceeds benefit United Way.
The sponsors for this year’s event are Renard’s Cheese, Pinkert Law Firm, ERA Starr Realty, Midwest Dental, Peninsula Vision Care, Forbes Funeral Home, Melville Radiator & Repair, Jim Olson Motors, Silpada Representative Cheryl Bishop, and T Simon Jewelers.
