Independence Day weekend in Door County is a spectacle to be savored as each town celebrates the holiday in special ways including a Renaissance Faire, lots of live music, delicious food and drink, two parades, pie and ice cream eating contests, games and activities, and of course, fabulous Fireworks displays on July 3, 4, and 5!

Friday, July 3rd

Stone Harbor Resort in downtown Sturgeon Bay will have live music twice on Friday. Out of Time performs on the patio from 4-8pm, the Dan Tulsa Band plays at 8pm. 920.746.0700
Sister Bay’s new Harbor Pie Company will have local singer/songwriter Marybeth Mattson playing acoustic folk/rock outside on the patio next to the Door County Ice Cream Factory from 1-3pm on Friday.

Egg Harbor will have their Fireworks on July 3rd – gather in Harbor View Park (7809 Hwy 42) starting at 4pm for Food & Refreshments, live music starts at 5pm with Modern Day Drifters and keeps the party going until the Fireworks display at 9:30pm. Carolyn Martin & Dave Martin perform swing and roots music with Door County favorites Eric Lewis and Rory Hoffman at 7pm at the Woodwalk Gallery & Events Barn at 6746 Cty Rd G just south of Egg Harbor. Saturday, July 4th
Baileys Harbor kicks of Independence Day early with the 7am Fire Department Pancake Breakfast, and from 9am until gone the Baileys Harbor Women’s Club Strawberry Fest will be in the Town Hall! The Arts & Crafts Fair and Food Court and Beer Stands will continue all day both on the Town Hall lawn and at the new Baileys Harbor Visitor Center & Historical Society (8061 Hwy 57). Enjoy Wowballs, Horse and Pony Rides, Free Trolley rides and more throughout the day. At 10am line up along the main road for the 4th of July Parade (running North to South this year and beginning at the new Ridges Sanctuary building). After the parade enjoy live music with Whiskey Ditch from 11am-3pm at the Town Hall, and from 12-4pm with Papa Rick’s Chicks at the new Visitor Center. Wrap up an exciting day with spectacular Fireworks at dusk!
Jeanne Kuhns performs in the Gazebo in front of MacReady’s Artisan Bread Co. from 10:30am-12-30pm and Egg Harbor‘s Independence Day Parade will start at 1:30pm. Enjoy the UW-Madison Marching Band performing 5th quarter immediately after the Parade! (Sponsored by Main Street Market and Nancy & Jim Forbes)
Fish Creek’s 4th of July celebration begins at 2pm with food and beverages at concession stands, and a Live DJ to entertain you in the park. Raffles and old time kids games, the Dunk Tank (back by popular demand), and a Cherry Pie-Eating Contest keep the afternoon rolling. Live music with Seth Raddatz and Marybeth Mattson will be held on the porch at J. Jeffrey Taylor Fine Art & Jewelry from 1:30-3:30pm – listeners are invited to bring blankets and chairs, picnics and parasol and relax on the front lawn. At 6pm head back to the park for Big Mouth and the Power Tool Horns, playing until the Fireworks! The Dinghy Parade and Venetian Boat Parade will light up the harbor before the Fireworks start at 10pm. After the Fireworks head up to Arroyo Bay Grill for a cold drink and club music by a live DJ (starts at 10pm).
Sturgeon Bay’s Sunset Park will be alive with activity for the 4th as well. The party begins at 5pm with live music from local band Lakeside Fire followed by the big sounds of Wifee & the Huzz Band at 7pm. There will be plenty of food and beverages to be purchased, and at 6pm, an Ice Cream Social sponsored by the Sturgeon Bay Visitor Center. More live music can be found at Stone Harbor Resort where Men in Suites performs Disco, Funk and more from 5-9pm, but head back to Sunset Park by dusk for the Fireworks display!
Up at the tip of the Door Peninsula, enjoy a full day of celebration at Gills Rock with tours of the Gills RockMaritime Museum, a book reading and signing from the author of the mystery Death at Gills Rock, live music from Katie Dahl and Rich Higdon on the lawn from 3-5pm, and River City Six plays more music for you from 6-9pm. Check out the Gills Rock Boat Regatta at 7pm and enjoy awesome Fireworks at dusk. Hop the Ferry over to Washington Island to find more 4th of July festivities including a Pancake Breakfast, the Rock Island Annual Cookout and American Legion Fish Boil, and Fireworks at the Ball Park.
Sunday, July 5th
On both July 4th and 5th, the Door County Renaissance Faire invites you to return to a simpler time – take in the marketplace atmosphere featuring tons of entertainment, edutainment, food and more! From belly dancing, magic, storytelling, and live music, to Knighting Ceremonies and weapons demonstrations, a Maypole Dance, and the Royals Promenade, this is a weekend is fun for the whole family! Meet the Ren Faire Dragon…
Period garb is welcome but not necessary to enjoy the Faire. Admission is $12 for adults, $10 for youth and seniors, and Free for 5 Years Old and under. Active or Retired Military also receive Free Admission with proper identification to verify status. The Faire will take place at 5226 Monument Point Road, Egg Harbor, WI (Just 1/2 mile East of Hwy. 42 and 1 mile North of Carlsville). 10am-6pm Saturday and 10am-4pm Sunday, rain or shine. Free Parking.
Baileys Harbor keeps the festivities going an extra day, just in case you haven’t had your fill! Browse the Summer Farmers Market at the Town Hall from 9am-1pm, play in the Wowballs for one more day, catch Scott Wilcox playing live music from 11am-1pm, and enjoy one more fabulous Fireworks Display at dusk!
