February 5-7, 2016 is both Fish Creek’s Winter Festival and Baileys Harbor’s Winter Carnival, welcoming folks from near and far to experience the magic of winter in Door County! While overlapping the same weekend, together these two events offer lots of different ways to enjoy the outdoors from out on the ice, to under a heated ten – so bundle up and do more in Door County this winter!
In Baileys Harbor the relatively new Winter Carnival has grown over the past two years, and this 3rd annual event is better than ever. Start Saturday morning with a hearty breakfast to fuel an active day – The Ridges Sanctuary’s Great Waffle Breakfast will be held at the Baileys Harbor Town Hall from 9-11am. Wrap that scarf tight and head out to Kangaroo Lake for a day of fast fun – “if it has a motor,” they say, “it’s allowed!” From 10am-3pm on Saturday, bring snowmobiles, ATVS, and other winter vehicles for radar runs and timed trial courses. The 3rd Annual Door County Pond Hockey Tournament will be held from 8am-4pm on Saturday (register to participate on their website). There will also be other outdoor activities, afternoon live music, and hot food and drinks to warm you up throughout the day. Sunday, Feb. 8 brings the Winter Farmers Market which will be held at the Baileys Harbor Town Hall from 10am-2pm featuring home grown, handmade, and local products.
