Sister Bay Marina Fest – September 5 & 6, 2015 – Enjoy Labor Day Weekend outdoors with live music, kids’ carnival rides, a petting zoo, dingy and cardboard boat races, a boat show, and the return of the Waterboard Warriors Water Ski Show. The Festival kicks off with a Pancake Breakfast at 8am on Saturday, Sept. 5th, and Marina Fest activities begin at 10am with live music from River City 6 until 2pm. Replica takes the stage with more live music at 4pm, and Fireworks will light up the shoreline at 8:45pm. On Sunday the fun continues with more live music, rides, tours and more, including showings of the animated movie Finding Nemo. Jeanne Kuhns’ Woodwalk Concert Series – Season Finale Music Festival Week, Woodwalk Gallery, Egg Harbor. 3 Nights of Music Sept. 2-4. All Shows begin at 7pm. $20 at the door. BYO wine is welcome! - Wednesday, Sept. 2 – Julian Hagen at “This Land is Your Land” – A Door County Land Trust Event Night. This Washington Island singer songwriter performs classic Door County folk music that is heartwarming and delightful, infused with an unmistakable sense of humor.
- Thursday, Sept. 3 – Hans Christian in Concert. This multi-instrumentalist creates dialogues with sarangi and sitara answering each other and swooping cello sitting in opposition, in layers of musical voices through live looping.
- Friday, Sept. 4 – Michael Lee Ammons & The Water Street Hot Shots in Concert. Experts at performing blues, rags, hokum, and novelty tunes in the style of the 1930s jug bands. Celebrate the closing of the concert season with the vintage party music that this acoustic combo brings to the stage.
In addition to the varying Thursday night music, The Cookery’s wine bar will be featuring Katie Dahl on Wednesday evenings throughout the summer and fall. Dahl is a Door County folksinger known for her sharp-witted lyrics, intricate melodies, and engaging performances.
Live music with Katie will begin at 8 p.m. during the months of July and August. The Cookery’s full dinner menu will be available. There is no cover charge.

This weekend is the 50th Annual Fyr Bal Festival in Ephraim with the main festivities on Saturday, June 21, 2014. Get acquainted with Ephraim on Friday, June 20, with a Free Historic Walking Tour from the Anderson Barn History Center at 10:30am, and enjoy Free Museum Day and Reception from 11am-4pm at Ephraim Village Museums.
On Saturday, June21, start the day off right with a Pancake Breakfast at the Village Hall, then check out the Artisan Market and the Yacht Club’s Fyr Ball Regatta, visit the Door County Land Trust’s Open House at their Ephraim Preserve at Anderson Pond, take a Free Trolley Ride, play a round of mini golf, and participate in an Ice Cream Eating or Pie Eating Contest! And there’s more – from face painting to children’s entertainment, to live music with Katie Dahl and Big Shoes, you’ll want to bring the whole family! Get a taste and a tune in Door County this weekend! June 12-15, 2014 is Steel Bridge Songfest in Sturgeon Bay. This Saturday, June 14th is Sip & Savor with Paddlefest in Sister Bay, as well as Door County Beer Fest and the Ride For Nature in Baileys Harbor, and July 15th is Father’s Day – so bring Dad for all the festivities and toast to his health! Sample local beers, wines, and hard ciders, and treat the taste buds to dishes from a variety of local food vendors while you treat the ear buds to lots of live music. Skip the paisley tie this year and give Dad a six pack or two of a new brew or a few bottles of his favorite wine, and don’t forget that most of the musicians performing throughout the county this weekend sell CDs of their original music – which make great Father’s Day gifts too!
STEEL BRIDGE SONGFEST, STURGEON BAY, WI
Steel Bridge Songfest in Sturgeon Bay runs Thursday, June 12 through Sunday, June 15, 2014. This is an astonishing festival in that all the musicians who perform volunteer their time, and those who participate in the “Construction Zone” (there are some 70 this year) spend the entire week prior to the festival spinning a whiskey bottle to form groups in which they co-write dozens upon dozens of original songs which they record at the Holiday Music Motel, then perform for audiences at a variety of indoor and outdoor venues.
