We asked, and Door County Chefs Facebook followers told us where they love to take their loved ones for romantic dining on the Peninsula…
Donny’s Glidden Lodge Restaurant took the cake as Door County’s #1 Favorite Romantic Dining Spot, with one voter writing, “The other restaurants mentioned are all nice too, but not only is the food delicious at Donny’s, but the view cannot be beat. It’s a Big Bang for your Valentine buck,” and another naming Donny’s as “Hands down my favorite restaurant in WI!” Donny’s fills up fast for their Valentine’s Day Dinner, but if you can’t get a reservation for Feb. 14th, you’ll find that their menu and views are just as delicious and stunning any other day of the year!
English Inn – Beef Wellington
Coming in close behind Donny’s were Alexander’s and The English Inn in Fish Creek, and Inn at Kristofer’s and Chop in Sister Bay. The English Inn will be open Friday through Sunday from 4pm-close on Valentine’s weekend offering their regular menu and wine selections as well as their house specialty, Beef Wellington. Featured nightly, their Wellington consists of a 6-ounce, hand-cut filet, seared and encrusted in a fresh garlic and mushroom pate, wrapped in puff pastry and served with a beef and red wine reduction sauce. Make your reservations for Valentine’s dinner Inn at Kristofer’s and enjoy incredible food and a gorgeous view from your table – they’ve been closed for some minor renovations, but plan to be open for Valentine’s weekend.
136 Restaurant & Wine Bar
More favorite romantic dining spots in Door County mentioned were 136 Restaurant & Wine Bar in Sturgeon Bay – a perfect place to raise a toast your darling and equally suited for a first date that just so happens to be on Valentine’s; Villaggio’s in Juddville (between Egg Harbor & Fish Creek) where authentic Italian cuisine awaits you; and Waterfront Restaurant in Sister Bay – another chance to dine with a spectacular view and capture the romantic spirit of Valentine’s Day.
Mission Grille in Sister Bay, Harbor Fish Market in Baileys Harbor, and Wickman House in Ellison Bay were also mentioned – but you’ll have to wait until April to enjoy their offerings as they are currently closed for the season!
