Sturgeon Bay, WI (Oct. 11, 2014) The United Way of Door County 19th Annual Chefs for a Day event will be held on Saturday, October 18th at the Sturgeon Bay Yacht Club. Doors will open at 6:00 pm and volunteer servers will be distributing hors d’oeuvres from 6:30 until 7:15 p.m. At 7:15 guests will be able to sample the entrees, served by each chef at numerous buffet stations.
During the hors d’oeuvres, guests will have the opportunity to sample wines and cheese pairings.
We’ve asked our fantastic chefs if they have fond memories of a special “Down Home Favorite” dish, perhaps a dish that their mother, grandmother, or aunt prepared – comfort food to prepare for the event! Whether it be a hors d’oeuvre, entrée, or dessert, we hope each chef will open up that recipe box or cookbook. The success of the “Buy Local, Cook Local, Eat Local” theme has been so well received the past two years, that we have asked our chefs to continue to try have at least 50% of their ingredients either grown/produced locally or purchased locally, while making their “down home favorite” dish.
Guests will have the opportunity to sample 45 gourmet dishes, including hors d’oeuvres, entrees, and desserts, during the evening’s event.
These volunteer chefs are people from the Door County community who are preparing taste-tempting dishes for your enjoyment. In addition to the gourmet appetizers and entrees, guests can satisfy their sweet tooth with a variety of desserts, which will be served at each dining table later in the evening.
Throughout the evening there will be a silent auction. Thank you to the local businesses who donated these wonderful items. All proceeds benefit United Way of Door County
Tickets are $45.00 each and advance purchase is highly encouraged. For more information or tickets please contact the United Way office at (920) 746-9645 or visit www.unitedwaydc.com.
